Following the clearance of lifetime ban by the BCCI, former Indian cricketer S. Sreesanth returns to cricket ground with Kerala Cricket Association's Presidential Twenty20 tournament in Alappuzha next month.KCA has sent a letter to the BCCI seeking permission to let him play.

"The letter was sent as part of an official process and is expected to be approved within two days" said KCA secretary Sreejith V Nair .

Sreesanth was banned after being found guilty of betting on the 2013 IPL. Later in 2018, the Kerala High Court lifted the life ban. In 2019, the BCCI ombudsman reduced the ban to seven years as per the Supreme Court order.

He completed term of ban by September 13. Pointing out this, KCA sent a letter seeking permission to let Sreesanth get back on ground.

Sreesanth last played for the Rajasthan Royals in the 2013 IPL. If Sreesanth proves his fitness and performs well in the President's League that shall pave his way to the Kerala Ranji team. Six teams will take part in the presidential tournament.

The players will be selected from the Ranji team, KCA Elite tournaments and former Under-23 players. The tournament is in league format with the backing by IPL sponsors Dream XI
