New Delhi: Indian star cricketer and Royal Challengers Banglore's opener in Indian Premier League (IPL), Virat Kohli, on Saturday became the first batter to touch 7,000 runs in IPL. He reached the feat in the first innings against RCB's match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Kohli, the 34-year-old legendary cricketer, surpassed 7,000 IPL runs in his 233rd match in the annual tournament. After reaching the milestone, fans gave him a huge round of applause. Despite playing for Bangalore, his home wasn't hesitant to cheer the star.

Representing the franchise even from the start in 2008, Kohli had bagged 49 fifties and five centuries in the tournament. The former RCB skipper is already the all-time highest scorer in the IPL. He is followed by Shikhar Dhawan with 6536 runs, David Warner (6189), Rohit Sharma (6063), and Suresh Raina (5,528).

Kohli's best score this season is 82 not out, and he has already scored five half-centuries so far.

Also, on Saturday evening, Kohli 55 off 46, along with Mahipal Lomror (54 off 29) took RCB to 181/4 against Delhi Capitals. Apart from Kohli and Lomror, skipper Faf du Plessis also played a vital knock to contribute to RCB's decent total. On the other hand, Mitchell Marsh was the most successful bowler for Delhi Capitals with his superb 2-21.
