Pune: In the Women's T20 Challenge 2022, Velocity qualified for the final, though, losing by 16 runs against defending champions Trailblazers, here on Thursday, IANS reports.

In their second tournament match, Velocity was given the target of 191 runs by Trailblazers, and the former fell at 174 for nine in 20 overs. However, Velocity will take Supernovas in the final on Saturday.

While all the three teams won two points each, the two with higher run rates reached the final.

For Trailblazers, Sabbhineni Meghana and Jemimah Rodrigues won shining half tons, and the team score reached 190 for five wickets. Sabbhineni scored 73 off 47 balls and Jemimah 66 off 44 balls. For Velocity, Simran Bahadur took two wickets, conceding 32 runs.

Trailblazers must have restricted Velocity to 159 to qualify for the final on the grounds of run rate. But Velocity's Kiran Prabhu Navgire (69 off 34) made a sensational contribution to the team, lifting the team to the final, though she couldn't make the team win the match. Trailblazers' Poonam Yadav's 2/33) and Rajeshwari Gayakwad's (2/44) efforts couldn't rein Velocity inside 159.

Brief scores: Trailblazers 190/5 (S Meghana 73, Jemimah Rodrigues 66; Simran Bahadur 2-31) beat Velocity 174/9 (Kiran Navgire 69, Shafali Verma 29; Poonam Yadav 2-33) by 16 runs.
