Doha: Tuesday's 3-0 victory over Wales allowed England to advance to the round of 16 of the World Cup thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden.

For the team's last Group B match, England coach Gareth Southgate decided to start both players, and they responded with all three goals — two from Rashford and the other from Foden.

Senegal will be England's next opponent in the round of 16. Wales was eliminated after placing last in its group, Associated Press reported.

After the scoreless draw with the United States, Southgate had to contend with suggestions to make changes to his lineup. He launched a fresh offensive with Rashford and Foden, and it was successful.

With goals from Rashford off from a free kick in the 50th minute and Foden in the 51st, England had the match in hand just after the half. In the 68th minute, Rashford scored his second goal after weaving through the box.

Gareth Bale, the captain of Wales, was forced to leave at halftime due to an injury.
