India's Niraj Kumar, Swapnil Kusale and Chain Singh won the gold medal at 50m Rifle 3 positions men's team event of the ISSF World Cup in Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi on Friday, beating the US team of Nickolaus Mowrer, Timothy Sherry and Patrick Sunderman, 47-25 in the finals.

After kick-starting with 10.1, 10.5, and 9.5 to the American's 9.9, 9.8, and 9.5 in the first series, India continued to be ahead of its competition even though the American team put forth an improved show in the following three series. While India scored in the mid and high 10s, US players hovered around low nine and eight.

Though India was initially supposed to compete with Hungary at the finals, the Hungarian team backed out following a dispute between its world number one shooter Istvan Peni and veteran Peter Sidi after Sidi used a bipod. The US team, who had finished third, then competed with India in the finals.
