Santander/ Spain: Indian team makes an easy win against Slovenia 5-0 at the final Group B tie at the World Junior Mixed Team Badminton Championships 2022 on Wednesday.

Finishing 2nd in Group B with three points, India had beaten Iceland, Australia and Slovenia but lost to group first China. China is the most successful team in the tournament, with 13 titles so far.

The Indian team will now play playoff matches against second-placed teams from other groups for the best possible finish in the 9-16 bracket.

On Wednesday, India's mixed pair Vignesh Thathineni and Srinidhi Naryanan defeated Ziga Podgoresk and Spela Alic 21-11, 21-9. Then Ayush Shetty won in men single's beating Kevin Lin Lenarcic 21-5, 21-5. Then Nicholas Raj and Tushar Suveer swept the tie with a 21-15, 21-14 victory over Anel Hac Gyorkos and Mark Korosa in the men's doubles.

Later, India's Rakshita Ramraj beat Anja Jordan 21-4, 21-4 in the women's singles. The women's doubles pair Shreya Balaji and Srindhi Naryanan completed the rout with a 21-9, 21-6 win over Nika Bedic and Kim Matovic.

Next, India will face the second-placed team from Group A, which could be Indonesia, the last edition champions, or Malaysia.

In 2019, the Indian squad finished 12, and they wish to improve it this year. India had their best finish in the tournament in 2008, finishing in fourth place.
