Ho Chi Minh City/ Vietnam: In the mixed semi-finals of Vietnam Open 2022 badminton, Indian shuttlers N Sikki Reddy and Rohan Kapoor lost to Indonesia's Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto and Lisa Ayu Kusumawati 16-21, 14-21 in straight sets. The duo, who were the last to represent India, bowed of the tournament on Saturday, IANS reported.

The Indian duo was failing even from the start of the first game. On the other hand, the Indonesians were clinical and sealed the game to register their lead.

The second game turned out to be more competitive in the initial stages. Then the Indonesians gained a lead of 7-4, and the Indians caught up with them at 9-9. However, Indonesians made an 11-9 lead before the mid-game break.

Rehan and Lisa had a good grip on the court, which was proved throughout the game. Though the Indians made a comeback of 15-14, the opposition won the last six points to seal the second match as well as the entire battle in their favour.

Earlier, World championships bronze-medallist B Sai Praneeth, along with youngsters Anupama Upadhayay and Priyanshu Rajawat, had bowed out of the tournament.

The Vietnam Open BWF Super 100 tournament is being held for the first time after the Covid-19 outbreak.
