Apple on Monday announced the introduction of its virtual assistant, Siri, to third-party devices with their iOS 15.

"Starting today, smart home device manufacturers can begin working with Apple to integrate Siri into their accessories," Apple said. Furthermore, Siri has added 'Announce Notifications' on AirPods, the ability to share what's on their screen by asking and more.

HomeKit Accessory makers can also now enable 'HeySiri' in their products. Siri-enabled accessories will relay requests through HomePod or HomePod mini and will support features such as Personal Requests, Intercom, timers, and alarms. However, Apple is yet to release a list of devices and brands that will support Siri.

Addressing concerns of unwanted audio recording, Apple said that the audio of users' requests is processed on their iPhone or iPad by default.

"For many requests, Siri processing is also moving on the device, enabling requests to be processed without an internet connection, such as launching apps, setting timers and alarms, changing settings, or controlling music," the company added.

While the developer preview of iOS 15 would be available only for Apple Developer Programme members, a public beta would be available for all iOS users from the next month onwards.
