New Delhi: Mark Zuckerberg seems to be all set to take on social media giant Twitter with his rival Threads, which started off today with a massive early signups.

Zuckerberg reportedly said that Threads received 2 million sign ups in first two hours of launch, which he later amended to 5 million in first four hours.

Arrival of Thread as a potential threat to Twitter could ramp up rivalry believed to be existing between Zuckerberg and Musk.

The two billionaires at some point even offered to wrestle it out in a fighting cage, according to NDTV.

It seemed Zuckerberg was firing the first salvo when he posted on Twitter an image of two men identically dressed in Spiderman costume facing off each other.

Nevertheless Elon Musk did not retort with any post, he posted laughing emoticon to a tweet that showed a keyboard with only the keys for Copy and Paste features.

The tweet seemed to suggest that Threads is a replica of Twitter; however, one report said Threads is capitalizing on Twitter’s missteps.

On Threads, users can post text and links and reply to or repost messages of others.

Elon Musk-owned Twitter has been for long dominating microblogging segment with no threatening rival in sight despite there are competitors.

Musk has laid off large number of workers acquiring the company for $44 billion in October.
