Chennai: India’s moon mission Chandrayaan -3’s rover Pragyan’s navigation camera has clicked an image of its carrier, the moon lander Vikram on the lunar soil, and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Tuesday released the same.

“Smile, please! Pragyan Rover clicked an image of Vikram Lander this morning. The image was taken by the Navigation Camera onboard the Rover (NavCam),” wrote ISRO in an X (formerly Twitter) post releasing the image.

“NavCams for the Chandrayaan-3 Mission are developed by the Laboratory for Electro-Optics Systems (LEOS),” it added.

The Indian space agency had called the lander and rover of its Chandrayaan-2 mission Pragyan and Vikram, which was earlier termed just Lander and Rover.

India's Moon mission Chandrayaan-3 touched down on the lunar south pole at 6.04 pm on August 23, propelling the country to an exclusive club of four and making it the first country to land on the uncharted surface.

With this touchdown on the Moon after a flawless 41-day voyage to script history, India is the fourth country to master the technology of soft-landing on the Moon after the US, China, and the erstwhile Soviet Union.
