NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden has said that China's blanket ban on cryptocurrency actually strengthened Bitcoin.

On October 4, Snowden retweeted an old tweet from March 13, 2020, in which he admitted that he had finally decided to buy Bitcoin.

After plummeting to $3,800 last year, Bitcoin has climbed to an all-time high of nearly $64,800 since March 2020.

The reactions to Snowden's tweet, which has received thousands of likes and retweets since it was posted, are mixed. Cryptocurrency supporters are praising Snowden for advocating for Bitcoin.

"Never forget what they did to gold in the last century. It is not over until it is over," Snowden said in response to a Twitter user who claimed that governments were attempting to postpone the inevitable.

Crypto supporters recently raised their voices in support of the "future of digital payments." Elon Musk, for one, stated last week that cryptocurrencies cannot be destroyed.
