EVs release more particle pollution than petrol, diesel cars: study

New York: A new study finds that particle pollution from Electric vehicles (EVs) could be 1,850 times greater than regular petrol and diesel cars.

The study by Emission Analytics, appeared in a Wall Street Journal op-ed, draws attention to particle pollution stemming from brakes and tires in both electric and fossil fuel powered cars, NDTV reported.

An increasing number of people are turning to electric vehicles for reasons including their relatively lesser impact on environment.

It is found that heavier weight of EVs could release ‘significantly more’ particle matter from both brakes and tyres compared to regular gas-powered vehicles.

EV’s heavier weight causes faster deterioration of tyres, releasing harmful chemicals into air.

Remember, most tires are made from synthetic rubber derived from crude oil.

EVs come with heavier batteries compared to traditional petrol engines, which leaves more strain on the brakes and tyres, accelerating wear and tear.
