New Delhi: A former student of IIT Madras has become the latest Indian to lead a big tech company.

An IIT Madras alumni, Pavan Davuluri will take over as the head of Microsoft Windows and Surface, etching his name in the tech world, NDTV reported.

Pavan Davuluri is the latest Indian to make it big in big tech after Google’s Sundar Pichai and Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, according to the report.

Davuluri steps into the role after the product chief Panos Panay left the company to join Amazon last year.

He previously oversaw the Surface group and at the time Mikhail Parakhin led the Windows department.

Rajesh Jha, Microsoft's head of experiences and devices, in an internal memo reportedly detailed the company’s new hierarchy alongside saying that the new decision will allow holistic approach ‘to building its devices and experiences in the ‘AI era’.

Davuluri, working for over 23 years at Microsoft, previously involved with Qualcomm and AMD to create processors for Surface.

‘We are excited for this team to help Microsoft AI achieve its bold ambition to build world-class consumer AI products. And I very much look forward to closely partnering with Mustafa and the team as we bring our AI products, including Copilot, to the breadth of our E+D products and services,’ the memo reportedly said.
