New Delhi: Snapchat added 16 million daily active users to reach 265 million users which are up 22 per cent year-over-year in the fourth quarter of 2020. The hike in users comes up despite having head to head competition from the family of apps by Facebook.

Snapchat Camera helps to create an average of over 5 billion Snaps on an everyday basis.

On Thursday, Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel said that "Snapchat generation that is primarily Gen Z and millennials, are 150 % more likely to communicate with pictures than words. 82% of them believe they have a personal responsibility to change the world".

"The total time spent on watching shows has increased by nearly 70 per cent year-over-year in 2020. With this, the company has evolved stories over time to embrace new formats like Shows," Spiegel said.

The CEO further informed that in each month, over 250 million Snapchat users are opening their map where users can find the people and places that mean most to them. More than 35 million businesses are there now on the map for Snap community for discovering and connecting local businesses.

On average, more than 200 million people engage with AR on Snapchat every day.

"We are planning to accelerate the full-year revenue growth beyond the 46 per cent year-over-year growth achieved in 2020. Snap Chat company is also focusing to grow around the world by improving and localizing the Snapchat product experience", he said.
