Twitter employee fired while trying to help coworkers facing layoff: report

In the midst of a mass exodus in Twitter, one employee has come out narrating his grime story of losing his job while trying to help those who were struggling to cope with their lot.

Twitter engineer Emmanuel Cornet complained to the U.S. National Labor Relations Board on Monday that he lost his job after he created a tool to save crucial documents of staff as layoff became imminent.

Before being fired on November 1, a few days after Musk had taken over Twitter, Emmanuel Cornet shared the tool he created on an internal Twitter messaging channel and afterwards, he lost his job.

Soon after taking over Twitter Musk started laying off employees over what the reports claimed was an attempt to cut corners in the social media platform, leading to ousting of close to 7500 employees, according to a report.

However, Twitter reportedly maintained that it was laying off workers in order to create a healthy path for Twitter, adding that the decision would impact "a number of individuals who have made valuable contributions to Twitter".

Cornet, one of the employees to face the grim reality befalling all sudden, created a Google Chrome extension for the staff members to download emails from the Twitter accounts.

He had done this in the thick of rumours of mass layoffs which subsequently saw a large number of employees parting ways with the company.

In his complaint, Cornet said that a day after he created and shared the link he was shown the door and subsequently Twitter removed the link from the channel.

In his complaint, Cornet chose not to mention Musk but rather focused on the tool he created and the subsequent layoff.
