Oklahoma, Tulsa: Police are still clueless about what prompted the deadly shooting on a hospital campus here which left four dead on Wednesday.

While confirming the number of deaths in the latest mass shooting, a police captain reported the shooter was dead, according to the news agency AP.

Capt. Richard Meulenberg said multiple people got wounded after an assailant armed with a rifle and handgun opened fire at the Natalie Medical Building in Tulsa, the latest in a spate of gun violence in the US.

The shooting occurred on the second floor, which contains doctor's offices including an orthopedic center.

Police are currently combing every room in the building for additional threats and the campus of St. Francis Health System was locked down.

A footage from a TV helicopter showed people wheeling somebody on a stretcher and there were dozens of police cars teaming outside the hospital.

Arriving on the scenes three minutes after they received a call about the shooting, police contacted the victims, gathering details.

Just as investigation was underway authorities shut down traffic in the area.

The US is reeling from the two mass shootings in May which claimed 29 lives with 19 at an elementary shool in Texas and another shooting at a supermarket claimed 10 lives in Buffalom, New York.
