Oslo: A far right extremist belonging to the Norwegian anti-Islamic group was reported to have been injured after the SUV in which Lars Thorsen, the leader of radical group 'Stop the Islamisation of Norway' (Sian) and four other passengers were chased and their car collided with the other car.

The incident happened on Saturday after Thorsen and others had burnt a copy of Quran at the suburb of Oslo with a large Muslim community. The anti-Muslim activist, however, managed to burn the Quran, pushing aside an angry crowd.

When more people began to gather at the scene, Thorsen and the party left in the SUV which was later overtaken by a Mercedes which first hit it lightly and eventually hit it at speed, overturning the vehicle.

According to the police, the passengers in the SUV suffered a light injury and the police arrested two, including the car driver, for deliberately ramming the SUV.

A video posted on Facebook showed Thorsen and other activists' first drive to Mortensrud, a suburb of Oslo with a large Muslim community.

Norway's domestic intelligence service has described the attack as "an act of Islamist terrorism".

Scandinavian far-right anti-Islam activists have made a speciality of burning the Quran in neighbourhoods with large Muslim populations in recent years.
