Gaza: Ismail Haniyeh, the chief of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has expressed disapproval over the Muslim countries normalising ties with Israel, reports Al-Jazeera.

In a letter sent to leaders of 30 nations, Haniyeh said that the move is a "treacherous stab on the back, a grave political offence that hampers the interests of the people of Palestine and its national security."

The letter addressed to the country leaders, whose identities were not revealed, said that the signing of agreements to normalise relations between some Arab countries and the Zionist entity under the auspices of the US administration is disapproved. It also said that any step towards normalisation of ties with the coloniser is to be considered very dangerous.

The Hamas leader said that Israel will remain the first common rival of the entire Arab and Islamic communities, and that normalising ties with it violatesthe norm, charters and resolutions issued by the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

He added that the coloniser alone is the one who benefits from the normalisation and the biggest losers are those who caved in.

Haniyeh said that the justifications put forward and widely circulated by the signing countries about the benefit their nation were going draw from the normalisation, are politically and strategically fragile.

The UAE, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco have normalised their ties with Israel as part of the "Abraham Accord" floated by US President Donald Trump.
