Washington: The Biden administration is seemingly getting upset about China playing a decisive role for ceasefire in Ukraine crisis, pushing aside the US from the scene

The two-day Putin-Xi summit in Russia sent enough signal to the US that both countries are in for stronger ties.

Putin praised China’s efforts to bring peace to the Ukraine, indicating the likelihood of a solution to the war with China’s intervention.

Nothing could be more upsetting for the US than a China-brokered peace in the war-torn region.

Now that its two adversaries are discussing Ukraine peace, the US administration reportedly is discussing its impact on the US, according to a report by Bloomberg.

US officials belittle China’s ideas for peace saying that it will help Russian cement its ‘territorial gains’.

Inside Washington, Russia-China summit and the proposal for peace caused ‘sense of unease’ as it questions the so called ‘broader US approach to the two countries’.

What worries the US most is China’s success in bringing peace will push the super power to a corner. Who will be the world police then?

Dismissing China’s proposal outright could create a feeling among war weary nations that the US is not interested in peace.

"China will likely ramp up messaging that the US is opposed to a cease-fire, that the US is opposed to the end of the war," Bloomberg quoted Bonny Lin, a fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies as saying.

Further the US will face a double whammy of increasing influence of China and the US failure to lead the world.

Making matters worse, the world’s second largest economy, China, and another regional force, Russia, have pledged to deepen ties on several fronts including military.

This illustrates the US failure to contain China diplomatically strengthening ties rather than having to be in a cold war with it.

China is getting more competitive in diplomatic ties: it has brokered a peace between Saudi Arabia and Iran, bought oil from Iran in defiance of West and Chinese companies entered into partnership with Russia, dismissing US sanctions.

On the other hand, the US spoiled its relations with China beginning with President Donald Trump’s trade war and later the balloon controversy, among others.
