Jerusalem: Even after an Israeli nationalist march on Sunday turned violent with crowds chanting racist slogans assaulting Palestinians and vandalising their property, police arrested no Jews involved in it, according to Arab News.

Israeli police reportedly arrested over 60 people after the march. Despite journalists pressed, the officials refused to give a breakdown along the national identities of those arrested.

On the other hand, Israeli police cleared out the area along a Palestinian neigbourhood for the marchers, heading to the Jewish Quarter of the Old City to pray at the Western Wall.

Reporting on Thursday, The Haaretz daily said it found no Jews on the arrest records after it checked name by name, adding that two Jews were arrested in separate related incident.

Thousands of Israeli nationalists participated in Sunday's parade marking Israel's captures of East Jerusalem in the 1967 Mideast war.

Palestinians took the event a provocation, according to the report.

Orthodox Jewish youths, dancing and chanting "Death to Arabs", gathered at the entrance to the Old City's Muslim Quarter.

Video clips emerged on social media reportedly showed the marchers scuffling with Palestinian residents, spitting, beating and spraying pepper spray at Palestinians and journalists.

Police reportedly intervened to protect Jews when they fought Palestinian residents.

Palestinian residents of East Jerusalem allege double standards by Israeli police by frequently arresting Palestinian crowds, clubbing them, using tear gas and rubber bullets on them.

Jewish settlers carry out violence and vandalism with impunity, they alleged.
