Israel bans Pak-based Lashkar-e-Taiba over Mumbai terror attack
text_fieldsNew Delhi/Mumbai: Israel today designated Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) a terrorist organization ahead of the anniversary of the Mumbai terror attack carried out by the outfit on November 26, 2008.
Israeli embassy in a statement called the Pakistan-based outfit ‘deadly and reprehensible’, according to NDTV.
Israel decided to designate the outfit as a terrorist organization without India having requested it in the first place.
‘Despite not being requested by the Indian government to do so, the state of Israel has formally completed all necessary procedures and has satisfied all required checks to introduce Lashkar-e-Taiba into the Israeli list of illegal terror organizations,’ the Israeli embassy reportedly stated.
The embassy stated Lashkar -e- Taiba is a deadly and reprehensible organization, which involved in the murder of hundreds of Indians and others.
Adding further, it said the outfit’s ‘heinous actions on November 26, 2008, still reverberate in force, through all peace-seeking nations and societies.’
Terrorists attacked several places in Mumbai including the Chhatrapati Shivaji railway station the popular Leopold Cafe, two hospitals, a theatre, the Nariman House, the Oberoi Trident, and Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.
A total of 166 people including foreign nationals were killed and more than 300 were injured.
It is reported that the attack started on November 26 and lasted until November 29, 2008.
Many in Israel continue to look upon the incident with ‘shared pain’ as there were six Jews among those killed when terrorists targeted the Nariman House, popularly known as the Chabad House.
