Mirror Group to settle Prince Harry's lawsuit paying damages

London: The Mirror Group Newspapers reaches to a settlement with Prince Harry in a lawsuit by agreeing to pay substantial damages to him along with legal costs, Harry’s lawyer informed the London High Court on Friday. In the lawsuit in which Harry accused the published of the royalty accused the publisher of phone hacking and other unlawful acts, Reuters reported.

The High Court had ruled on December last that Harry was a victim of unlawful information gathering by journalists of Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, and Sunday People tabloids, with the knowledge of their editors. The journalists used methods including phone hacking, the court had ruled.

However, that judgment only considered 33 of 148 articles Harry had complained about, ruling in his favour over 15 of these. His lawyer told the court MGN had now conceded the rest of his claim.

When David Sherborne Harry complained about 148 articles, the court considered 33 and ruled in favour of 15. But, his lawyer told the court that the defendant admitted the rest of his claim.

His lawyer, David Sherborne, said, "Mirror Group Newspapers will pay the Duke of Sussex a substantial additional sum by way of damages,” Reuters quoted.

Prince Harry’s, King Charles’ younger son, became the first senior British royal to give evidence in court for 130 years $180,700. He was originally offered around $180,700 after the judge found him unlawfully targeted by the journalists employed by the defendant.

However, Prince Harry was not present in the court on Friday. He had flown to Britain earlier this week to see his father who was diagnosed with a form of cancer.
