Rolling Fork: Another US town, Rolling Fork in Mississippi, was hit by a tornado and volunteers said that it now looks like a war zone.

Reports said that the tornado struck the town on Friday night and killed at least 25 people in the community of 2,000. The American Red Cross moved into a National Guard building in less than 24 hours. Now, houses are torn open and trees were seen with their roots in the air. Stretchers were also seen lined up in front of tables overflowing with food, reported AFP.

John Brown, a Red Cross official for Alabama and Mississippi, told the outlet that the organisation is trying to give people a place to stay overnight with food and medical support. He added that the city looks like a war zone and like a bomb went off. People have lost everything and volunteers are trying to give people a place to lay their heads.

Dozens of people were injured and rescue workers spent the entire Saturday pulling people from the rubble. Rolling Fork’s mayor Eldridge Walker declared, "my city is gone." He told CNN that the people are resilient and "we are going to come back strong".

A room in the town center is being used as an infirmary and the back door is set up to receive food and diapers. Many people have their houses in pieces but are not sure whether they will spend the night at the center.

Volunteers have come from far to help the townsfolk and spent the night bringing donations of water, food, canned goods, diapers, wipes, medicine, deodorant, and toothpaste from collection points. One volunteer said that the resilience of the people of Rolling Fork and the generosity of the people made him believe that the community will rebuild for the better.
