Police rushing to arrest former Pak PM Imran Khan today, tension likely

Lahore: A few hours from now, police will knock on the door of former prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan’s residence Zaman Park in Lahore to arrest him.
Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been dodging arrest after he found himself enmeshed in a case of threatening a female judge.
A sessions court in Islamabad issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Khan over threatening judicial magistrate Zeba Chaudhry and police officers at a rally in F-9 Park on August 20.
Following Khan’s repeated disappearance in the court, Civil Judge Rana Mujahid Rahim handed a verdict, issuing non-bailable arrest warrants for Khan.
The former prime minister requested an exemption from physically appearing before the judge, seeking permission to join the court proceedings virtually, reported Geo News.
Meanwhile, a police team rushed from Islamabad by helicopter to arrest the PTI chairman.
A meeting of police officials from Islamabad and Lahore has reportedly taken several decisions as official are coming to arrest him for the second time.
Reports say that Islamabad police will ensure the cops can reach Khan’s residence without hindrances on the way.
Police expect large scale protests from Khan’s supporters who previously tried to foil an arrest of their leader.
Despite facing non-bailable arrest warrants in separate cases, Khan has not appeared before the court yet, instead held a rally in Lahore.
Khan is planning to hold what he said a ‘historic’ rally this Sunday.
