QAnon supporter Marjorie Taylor Greene wins seat in US House

Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is a supporter of the controversial QAnon conspiracy theory in America got elected to the US Congress. Greene, a Republican businesswoman, was declared the winner in Georgia's 14th congressional district. Her Democratic challenger Kevin Van Ausdal had suddenly dropped out in September.

QAnon is a group supporting the elaborate right-wing conspiracy theory favouring Trump and his loyalists obliquely. The group alleges that a set of "deep state operatives" are involved in brewing up a secret rebellion against Trump.

A user who went by the name 'Q' posted a series of cryptic messages on image board website 4chan in October 2017, "exposing" the establishment, suggesting that an apocalyptic shake-up is in order against the Democrats. The user was assumed to be a high-level intelligence official with Q-level clearance, which is required to access Top Secret information in the U.S. government.

Secret agencies apprehensively watching the movement suggests that an individual or a group may be operating behind this claims.

While QAnon is centered around the debunked belief that Trump is fighting a secret campaign against "deep-state" enemies and a child sex trafficking ring of satanic pedophiles and cannibals, Trump claimed he didn't know anything about the QAnon theory.

Twitter and Facebook have both removed about 800 accounts associated with the conspiracy on their platforms.
