New York: Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy asked the Colorado Supreme Court to reinstate Donald Trump on the ballot in Colorado state.

The court in a historic ruling hours before barred Trump from running for presidential ballot in the state, reports said.

Vivek Ramaswamy is perhaps the first from Republican camp to strongly react to the ruling, urging his fellow candidates to withdraw from the Colorado polls immediately if the court does not reinstate Trump.

‘I pledge to withdraw from the Colorado GOP primary ballot until Trump is also allowed to be on the ballot, and I demand that Ron DeSantis, Chris Christie, and Nikki Haley do the same immediately,’ Ramaswamy said on X.

The Indian-American leader said the ruling would bring in disastrous consequences for the US.

Trump is the first presidential candidate to have been declared ineligible for the White House invoking a rarely used provision of the US constitution.

The provision related to on the 14th Amendment of the constitution bars officials who have engaged in "insurrection or rebellion" from holding office.

The court decision applies only to Colorado's March 5 Republican primary, according to reports.

The ruling against Trump has to do with his alleged role in the January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol by his supporters.

A Trump spokesman on Tuesday night said the judgment would appealed, meaning further court battle ahead.

Donald Trump on Wednesday called the court ruling 'a threat to democracy' alongside saying it is 'a scheme backed by crooked Biden to interfere in an election'.

‘It's no wonder crooked Joe Biden and the far left group takes a desperate to stop us by any means necessary. They are willing to violate the US constitutions at levels never seen before, in order to win this election,’ Trump reportedly said.

Trump came down heavily on President Joe Biden saying that he is a ‘threat to democracy’, adding ‘They are weaponising law enforcement for a high-level election interference because we are beating them so badly.’
