London: Amid rumours about opposition parties wanting to remove Liz Truss from UK Prime Minister's chair, a survey found that former Indian-origin chancellor Rishi Sunak is the next favourite.

55% of Tory members will now vote for Sunak and 25% will still vote for Truss, found the YouGov poll. 55% of the party members also think Truss should resign as Prime Minister. Only 38% of them think she should continue in office. Sunak was part of the race till the last stage. Truss has been facing criticism for bad economic decisions in less than two months after taking charge.

"With the ongoing political chaos at Westminster dominating headlines, a new YouGov Political Research snap poll of Conservative party members finds significant buyer's remorse among the party membership surrounding their September decision to elect Liz Truss leader," said the survey findings.

However, former PM Boris Johnson is still a popular choice with 63% seeing him as a good replacement. 32% have put Johnson as their top candidate while only 23% have put Sunak as the top candidate. 10% have chosen Defence Secretary Ben Wallace. "Were Liz Truss to buckle to such pressure and resign, Tory members would most want to see Boris Johnson brought back to replace her," said an analysis.

Survey also found that 83% of Conservative members think Truss is doing a bad job as PM and 72% of them voted for her in the leadership election a month ago. Only 15% think she is doing a good job.
