Russian airstrikes have killed nine people in Mykolaiv near the strategic port of Odesa, regional governor Vitaliy Kim said Sunday.-
Kim wrote on Telegram: "Scum!!!!!! 9 people have died in the attack by assholes in Mykolaiv.
Earlier, Kim reported that Russian bombers reportedly bombed a gas turbine factory in the city on Sunday.
Air raid warnings were issued by local authorities on Sunday morning.
"We have freedom and we are fighting for it," the governor added.
Approximately 500,000 people live in Mykolaiv, a town about 100 kilometres from Odesa that is heavily bombarded by Russian forces. The residents are fleeing.
Russian troops have been besieging Ukrainian forces for a few days now.
Reports said a cancer treatment hospital and an eye clinic there came under fire Saturday.
