Ankara: A Turkey-based airline company has recently come in headlines after a flight attendant allegedly found a snake's head in one of the in-flight meals.

The Independent, citing One Mile at a Time, an aviation blog, said that the severed snake head was found on a July 21 SunExpress flight from Ankara, Turkey to Dusseldorf, Germany. Members of the crew said that they found the head hidden between their vegetables and potatoes while they were having the meal.

The snake's head that was lying in between the food was seen in a video shared on Twitter, NDTV reported.

This discovery provoked an immediate statement from the airline. SunExpress representative spoke to the Turkish press and said that such an incident was "absolutely unacceptable". The representative added that in the aftermath of this, the airline has suspended the contract with the food supplier and has launched an investigation into the matter.

According to the Independent, the airline put out this statement, "With more than 30 years of experience in the aviation industry, it is our top priority that the services we provide to our guests on our aircraft are of the highest quality and that both our guests and employees have a comfortable and safe flight experience".

"We would like to inform you that the allegations and shares in the press regarding in-flight food service are absolutely unacceptable and a detailed investigation has been initiated on the subject," it added.

The catering company that had supplied the meal to the airline has vehemently denied allegations of the reptile's head originating from their facilities.

According to the Sancak Inflight Service, it "did not provide any of the foreign objects that were supposedly in the food when cooking". According to the catering company, all of their meals are cooked at a temperature of 280 degrees Celsius and added that the snake head looks relatively fresh and therefore could have been added only after the meals were prepared.
