Tehran: Police-protesters clash; students trapped inside a university

Tehran: As the protests continued on the death of a young woman who died in police custody after being caught for violating headscarf rules, the students of Sherif University in Tehran had heavy clashes with police. Many students are reportedly trapped in a car park inside the university, reports IANS.
There were videos on social media which featured students running away from security forces, and there were the apparent sounds of gunshots in the distance. In another video, forces shot at a car that filmed the incidents that happened around. BBC reported that forces used tear gas on the protestors.
Further reports arriving from the Iranian capital suggest that forces attacked students inside dormitories and fired at them.
It was on Sunday when a new term started for many students at Sharif University.
The 22-year-old Mahsa Amini was arrested by the police for violating headscarf rules. Some allege that the police beat her in captivity, and a hit with a baton on her head took her to a coma. However, the police maintain that Amini's death was due to cardiac arrest, IANS reports.
Following Amini's funeral, protests erupted in Iran, and around 133 people died in various clashes across the country. The Iran administration maintains that the protests were incited by external enemies of the country. Tehran will come hard on them, it said.
