In Indonesia's easternmost province of Papua, floods, and landslides forced 500 people to evacuate their homes, the nation's disaster management agency reported Friday.

"Heavy rains have caused flooding and landslides in several sub-districts from Jayapura City in Papua province since Thursday night," said a spokesperson for the agency, Abdul Muhari.

Three bodies were still being identified, while the rest were already identified, Muhari said, adding that rescuers were using three boats to rescue people from their homes, while a truck removed those trapped by landslides, Xinhua reported.

Despite light rains and a gradual receding of the floods on Friday morning, the blackout remained in place.
