Ahead of his impeachment trial on February 8th, Former American President Donald Trump's five defence attorneys have left the case, reported CNN. The five defence attorney team included Butch Bowers, Deborah Barbier, Josh Howard, Johnny Gasser and Greg Harris.

According to the report, Trump wanted the attorneys to argue that there was a mass election fraud rather than focusing on the impeachment's unconstitutionality as he is no longer president. The leaving was reportedly a "mutual decision".

However, the billionaire is likely to walk free as nearly all senators from his party opposed his trial and are unlikely to vote against Trump while there is a need for a two-thirds majority for conviction.

Democrats impeached Trump on charges of inciting violence within the US Capitol on January 6th, before Biden's swearing-in ceremony. Trump is the first president to be impeached twice during his tenure.
