Sydney: A strange-looking small creature was spotted in the Marrickville suburb, here, after heavy rains. Instagram user Harry Hayes took it to the platform, who was on his jog on Monday, posted a video of the creature, and the post gathered enormous attention among social media, NDTV reports, citing Ladbible.

"My gut says it's some kind of embryo but with Covid, World War III, and the floods [going on right now] this could very well be an alien," Hayes said about the creature, which was not spotted on a flooded zone. In the viral video, he poked the tiny creature with a stick, but it did not respond.

Popular Australian influencer, Lil Ahenkan, shared the creature's pic on Instagram and captioned, "What is this?" After that, the news gathered mileage and many users on social media described it as "alien". Some opined it as a shark embryo or some sea creature.

Biologists were also confounded about seeing the creature. Biologist Ellie Elissa reposted the picture of the creature and sought help to identify the creature. She said she first thought it was a possum or glider embryo but found it wrong later. She added that none of her peers agreed too. It was assured that the creature was not a cuttlefish embryo, a germinating seed or a mutated tadpole.

Ladbible reported that even the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales could not identify the creature.
