Washington: The United States have delivered Israel with ‘bunker buster’ bombs along with a set of other ammunition to attack Gaza, a The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report suggested.

The report said that the US administration supplied the 100 BLU-109 bombs to Israel, which are able to penetrate hardened structures before exploding.

According to anonymous US officials who talked to the WSJ, the bomb carries a warhead weighing 900 kg, which was used by the US in conflicts, including the Afghan war.

Unlike the Ukraine war, the US mostly remained silent on supplying Israel with weapons while the international community condemned Israel’s combat operations in Gaza.

The WSJ reports that there was an increase in the US supplying arms to Israel since the beginning of the war in October. This included 15,000 bombs and 57,000 155mm artillery shells, which were carried on C-17 military cargo planes.

The list further includes more than 5,000 unguided Mk82 bombs, more than 5,400 Mk84 bombs, about 1,000 GBU-39 small-diameter bombs, and approximately 3,000 JDAMs, a guidance kit that turns unguided bombs into precision-guided munitions.

These are all in addition to millions of dollars the Jewish country receives annually from the US as financial support.

US-made large bombs have imparted some of the deadliest attacks in Gaza, such as the one that levelled an apartment block and killed 100 people. Israel justified the attack, claiming that it had killed a Hamas leader.

The war has killed more than 15,000 Palestinians, including at least 6,150 children so far.
