New Delhi: A man on Twitter wrote to author JK Rowling "Don't worry. You are next" after she condemned the murder attempt on novelist Salman Rushdie in Western New York.

The 57-year-old author of the Harry Potter series shared the screen shots of the threat message to her.

Rowling was intimidated when she tweeted her reaction to the stabbing of Rushdie saying she felt very sick and hoped that the novelist would be okay.

After issuing threat to her, the twitter handler went on praising Rushdie's attacker Hadi Matar.

The assailant from New Jersey, currently in custody, stabbed Rushdie several times during a literary event in western New York on Friday.

Reports today said Rushdie was removed from ventilator but is still facing the worst of losing an eye just as struggling with a damaged liver from the attack.

Hadi Matar, who is charged with attempted murder in the second degree and assault, reportedly sympathized with Shia extremism and Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Following attempt on Rushdie his controversial 1988 novel 'The Satanic Verses' is back in limelight again for reasons including the difficult life the author has been living for the past 33 years.
