Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky hosted a meeting with Latvian President Egils Levites and Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and thanked both for their support to Ukraine, IANS reported.

The meeting was hosted in Kyiv. Levites and Morawiecki had arrived in the Ukraine capital earlier in the day.

According to Xinhua news, Zelensky expressed his gratitude towards Latvia and Poland for the political, defence and humanitarian backing both countries provided to Ukraine during the Russian invasion.

He specifically lauded Latvia and Poland for their role in allocating Ukraine 5 billion euros in assistance from the European Union (EU) as well as promoting Kyiv's position in the 27-member organisation.

Further, the trio discussed Ukraine's integration into Europe, sanctions against Russia, energy issues and support for Ukrainian refugees.

After his arrival, the Latvian President tweeted, "Today I am in Kyiv to assure Zelensky of Latvia's continued strong support to Ukraine until victory in this war. Latvia is your advocate. Latvia will help in the reconstruction effort."

Polish PM Morawiecki stated, "I am in Ukraine. In a place where history is being made today, where the struggle for freedom and security of the whole of Europe is taking place."

"In this fight, we will side with Ukraine until the only possible end: a full victory," he added.
