New features enables Alexa to detect more sounds

Amazon has updated Alexa with more features and improved the ability to detect sounds. Alexa now recognizes the sounds of running water and appliances beeping, reports Android Central. Users can set up Alexa routines so that they are notified when their washer beeps to indicate that laundry is finished, according to the report. As soon as Alexa detects that the faucet has been left open, it will send users a notification so they can take appropriate action, it said.

Amazon announced at its event in September that Alexa would be able to recognize custom sounds; however, this feature has not yet been introduced. According to the report, the new sound detection features not only help users save energy but also help them avoid paying for unnecessary utility charges. In addition, Amazon has announced ultrasound motion detection, allowing you to set up "Occupancy Routines" on additional Echo devices.

Smart speakers with this feature can detect nearby motion and initiate a routine, such as turning on the lights. Among its compatible devices are the 4th-generation Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Dot with Clock.
