'Phillauri' earns Rs 4.02 crore on first day

Phillauri earns Rs 4.02 crore on first day

Mumbai: Actress Anushka Sharma's second production "Phillauri" has collected Rs 4.02 crore nett on its opening day.

The film stars Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh and "Life of Pi" actor Suraj Sharma besides Anushka. It has been directed by Anshai Lal.

North India has contributed 52 per cent of the total "Phillauri" collections.

"'Phillauri' is a high concept film with a big heart and we are happy with the start that it has had on day one. The film has good word of mouth and it will grow today. It is a fun, family entertainer and a perfect weekend watch for audiences across all age-groups," Producers Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios and Karnesh Sharma of Clean Slate Films said in a statement.

The film, which was made on a budget of Rs 21 crore, has recovered Rs 12 crore from satellite and music rights.
