Rajkumar Hirani, in light of the recent release of his film "Dunki" starring Shah Rukh Khan, has advocated for a shift in the evaluation of films, emphasising the need to prioritise content over box office numbers.

While both "Dunki" and Prabhas-starrer "Salaar" have seen success at the box office, Hirani urges a conversation that delves deeper than just the monetary success of these films.

In an interview with ANI, Hirani lauded Shah Rukh Khan's courage as an actor, commending his dedication to the film from its inception.

He highlighted Khan's eagerness to explore new roles after a series of action-oriented films, expressing his delight at collaborating with the versatile actor and praising his affectionate nature towards everyone involved in the project.

The director stressed the need to reorient discussions surrounding films, focusing more on their content rather than their financial performance.

He acknowledged the initial influence of negative publicity on audience perception but believes that genuine appreciation for a film lies beyond immediate reactions and financial gains. Hirani reflected on the shift in audience approach over time, expressing the need to return to genuine conversations about the film itself.

"Dunki" features Shah Rukh Khan in a role where he aids his friends in reaching London through an illegal route. This marks Khan's third film release in the year, following the success of action-packed blockbusters "Pathaan" and "Jawan."

Hirani, acclaimed for hits like "Lage Raho Munna Bhai," "Sanju," "PK," and "3 Idiots," is known for films celebrated not just for their box office earnings but for their content and impact.
