Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch probing the drug abuse in the Kannada film industry, on Tuesday arrested actress Sanjjanaa Galrani here, police sources said.
The development comes in the wake of city police arresting actress Ragini Dwivedi for supplying drugs to people at high-end parties in the city.
According to CCB, Sanjjanaa was under its radar ever since her friend Rahul, a realtor, was booked in connection with the drug case. Based on his statement and other accused persons officials searched her house.
Rahul is an architect and also a businessman. When he was arrested, Sanjjanaa had addressed mediapersons stating that Rahul is her 'Rakhi' brother and is an innocent person, but she has nothing to do with his link with the drug mafia.
According to officials, Sanjjanaa Galrani initially cooperated during the search, but after some time she started arguing with them, said a report by Deccan Herald.
The officials have seized a laptop, hard disk and her three mobile phones from her flat. They have also questioned her family members, employees before questioning her, the report says
CCB officials said they got some material useful for the case and immediately they asked local police to seize the materials, the report added.
Galrani was arrested at the end of the raid at her Indira Nagar residence here early this morning, they said.
She was taken to the CCB office for interrogation.
"After obtaining a search warrant from the court, the searches were conducted at Sanjjanaa's house," the Bengaluru Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil said.
Sanjjanaa was born in Bengaluru. She made her film debut in a Tamil movie 'Oru Kadhal Seiveer' in 2006.

Meanwhile, the police also raided the house of Viren Khanna, who has already been arrested by the CCB sleuths in connection with the drug abuse in the film industry.
So far 13 people have been booked and six arrested.
The Sandalwood drug racket was busted in Karnataka on August 21 and many drug peddlers were arrested.
