New Delhi: The recent escalation of the border dispute between Assam and Mizoram that led to the killing of six Assam police officials and one civilian is what is now alleged to have linked to Mizoram's Rajya Sabha MP K Vanlalvena in the conspiracy taking his controversial speech outside Parliament.

Vanlalvena is accused of issuing a public death to the Assam Police. Addressing media over the commotion on the border, Vanlalvena is reported to have said it was the Assam Police that entered Mizoram's territory, pushing back their policemen and ordering firing before Mizoram police fired. "They are lucky that we didn't kill them all. If they come again, we shall kill them all," he said.

Assam police said that Vanlalvena's speech is a direct death threat to Assam police and alleged a conspiracy in the turmoil.

A team of Assam police will be questioning Rajya Sabha MP K Vanlalvena from Delhi on his controversial speech. GP Singh, the senior officer of the Assam Police said that Vanlalvena's speech is indicative of his active role in the conspiracy.

The Assam Police, Singh said, has prepared a "picture gallery" of the people involved -- including Mizoram Police personnel and locals who opened fire on its personnel.

In a statement, the state also announced a reward of ₹ 5 lakh for information on the attackers.

The violence, in which 45 people were also injured, had started on Monday morning at the Inner Line Reserve Forest area of Cachar district. Later each state had issued tit-for-tat allegations of intrusion in violation of a previous understanding. Paramilitary forces were deployed to keep the peace in the disturbed area.
