Lucknow: Rather than helping people in distress, filming them for social media is becoming a dangerous trend.

The most recent example comes from Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj where people heartlessly filmed a seriously injured teenage girl without helping her.

The 13-year-old who went missing turned up hours later with multiple injuries including one on her head, according to NDTV

She lifted her head seeking help but people, absorbed in filming her with their mobile phones, turned a deaf ear to her.

They switched angles to cover her better as she moaned with pain, showed a 25-second video of the incident that also went viral.

As the filming went on, somebody was heard asking whether police were alerted, while another asked for police chief's number.

The girl was lying there in pain until the police came along to help her.

Another video of the incident showed a police man taking the girl in his arms to a waiting autorickshaw.

Superintendent of Police Kunwar Anupam Singh said the minor girl was found with injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police registered a case following her family lodged a complaint and it is not yet clear if the girl was sexually assaulted.
