New Delhi: A court in Delhi refused to grant bail to former JNU student Umar Khalid in a larger conspiracy case charged on him regarding the Delhi riots of February 2020, PTI reported.

The court of Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat had reserved the order on March 3 after hearing the arguments from Khalid's counsel as well as the prosecution.

The accused had submitted before the court that the prosecution had no credible evidence to prove the case against him.

Khalid, along with several others, were detained under the anti-terror law, UAPA, in the case for masterminding the February 2020 riots. The incident had killed 53 people and injured more than 700. It had occurred during the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), and the National Register of citizens were going on.

Other arrestees regarding the incident were activist Khalid Saifi, JNU students Natasha Narwal and Devangana Kalita, Jamia Coordination Committee members Safoora Zargar, former AAP councillor Tahir Hussain and several others and all were charged with UAPA.
