New Delhi: The CBI on Sunday evening arrested Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia in the liquor policy case for 2021-2022. He was questioned for nearly eight hours.

Officials said his answers were not satisfactory and he has not been cooperating with the investigation. The AAP leader was accused of being involved in corruption in the formulation and implementation of the liquor policy which is now scrapped. BJP leader Sambit Patra asked why the AAP government hasn't given an explanation for the abrupt withdrawal of the policy.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said his deputy's arrest is "dirty politics" and Sisodia is innocent. "Manish is innocent. His arrest is dirty politics. There is a lot of anger among the people due to Mr Sisodia's arrest. Everyone is watching. People understand everything. People will respond to this. This will boost our spirit further. Our struggle will get stronger," reported NDTV.

AAP MLA Atishi said the BJP is afraid of the rise of Kejriwal and Sisodia. "The AAP's increasing popularity is the reason behind the arrest. The BJP is trying to finish off the AAP. The case is a false one."

Samajwadi Party also condemned Sisodia's arrest who is also Delhi's finance minister. "BJP is forcibly arresting opposition leaders to suppress issues like selling government properties, inflation, and unemployment. The oppressive BJP government wants to end democracy," the party tweeted.
