New Delhi: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi took a dig at the BJP government referring to the reports of China renaming the places in Arunachal Pradesh while the party is seeing the Mughal history being expunged from the textbooks.

He said that while the Modi government is in the process of removing Mughals from the textbook, China is renaming the places in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh.

In his criticism, Asaduddin Owaisi pointed out that while China was renaming 11 places in Arunachal Pradesh, with whom Prime Minister Modi had been shaking hands at a G20 meeting, his government was removing Mughal history from the NCERT syllabus.

"On one side, the Modi government is erasing the Mughals from NCERT syllabus, while on the other side, China, with whom PM Modi was shaking hands at the G20 Indonesia meeting, is erasing our present," he said.

However, NCERT director Dinesh Prasad Saklani called it a lie that the CBSE books had dropped chapters on the Mughals. Saklani explained that a rationalization process was conducted last year, which recommended the dropping of chapters that won't impact students' knowledge.

The history of Mughals is still being taught in Empires in section-2 of the 11th class book, and in the class 12th book, only one out of two Mughal history chapters was removed last year. This year, no chapter has been removed from any book, claimed Saklani.

Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal took a jibe at the Modi government, stating that the deletion of Mughal chapters is consistent with "Modi ji's Bharat," and that modern Indian history should start from 2014. According to The Indian Express, NCERT has also removed references to the Gujarat riots and the ban on the RSS.
