Woman kills husband for taunting about her dark skin, chopped off genitals too

Durg, Chhattisgarh: Police on Monday arrested a 30-year-old woman here for allegedly hacking to death her husband who used to call her "ugly".
Sangeeta Sonwani reportedly attacked her husband Anant Sonwani (40) with an axe on Sunday night in Amleshwar village of Chhattisgarh's Durg district, said Devansh Rathore, sub-divisional officer of police (Patan area).
The preliminary investigation shows the victim frequently taunted her about her dark skin. The couple had quarreled over it several times in the past, he said.
There broke out an argument between them on Sunday night and in a fit of rage, Sangeeta allegedly killed him on the spot with the axe kept in the house, the official said.
The woman also chopped off the victim's genitals, he said.
The accused tried to mislead the villagers the following morning alleging that someone had killed her husband, but later admitted to have committed the offence during police interrogation, the official said.
The victim had married the accused after the death of his first wife, he said.
The woman has been booked under section 302 (murder) and other relevant provisions of the IPC and further probe is underway, Rathore said.
