Istanbul: At least 10 people were killed on Tuesday when a powerful blast rocked a central Istanbul district popular with tourists, media reports said.

Around 15 others were injured in the explosion in Sultanahmet district, BBC and Xinhua news agency reported. A suicide bomber may have carried out the deadly attack, some reports said.

Xinhua quoted officials as saying that the blast was heard in other parts of the Turkish capital too. Several German tourists were reportedly among the injured.
