Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Tuesday held talks with metro man E. Sreedharan over light metro projects in the capital and in Kozhikode.

"The Kerala government has full faith in Sreedharan. A high-level meeting has also been convened to discuss the issue. A decision on light metro projects will be taken tomorrow,” Chandy told reporters after the meeting.

There were media reports that the Finance Department were not in favour of using the services of Metro man E. Sreedharan for constructing the Mass Rapid Transit Systems in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode.

Finance Minister K M Mani, however, Monday refuted the charges. In a release issued, Mani stated that the state needed E Sreedharan.

“All the allegations that are doing the rounds in the media are baseless and the state needs the expertise of E Sreedharan to set up light metros at Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram,” said Mani in the release.
