Malappuram: The Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery is likely to be chosen as an embarkation point for Haj pilgrims this time as the Karipur airport will be partially closed for repairing and recarpeting work.

A meeting of the Haj panel today is reported to have taken a decision in this regard.

Malappuram district collector K. Biju has been entrusted to take a final decision on the matter.

The Karipur airport has been the embarkation point for Haj pilgrims from Kerala and Lakshadweep for the past several years.
