Thiruvananthapuram: Vigilance Director Vinson M Paul has expressed his willingness to quit after the court dismissed the closure report on the bar bribery case.

"I don't want to get the Vigilance department tainted. I had been performing my duty within the limits of legal parameters. So, I can say with conviction that I haven't committed any mistake and don't feel guilty," Vinson M Paul told reporters.

He has also applied for a long time leave ahead of resigning from the post.

The court observed that the Vigilance Director had no right to interfere in the bar bribery case and that his actions were erroneous.

The Vigilance Director's final report had rejected the fact-finding report presented by Vigilance SP and investigating officer in the case, R. Sukesan. The vigilance had sought closure of the case against Mani.
